Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their status as important members in the powerful family could help the team access areas they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the family.

This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Seekers and Schemers groups.

Fans can anticipate discovering which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
